Our History

Over the decades, through a series of takeovers and mergers, the firm evolved into French Duncan LLP, which became one of Scotland’s largest independent accountancy practices.

Renowned for its professionalism and high standards, French Duncan built a strong reputation with both clients and staff, consistently delivering exceptional service. The firm was award-winning and recognised in the Sunday Times Top 50 Employers in Scotland.

In 1990, French Duncan established French Duncan Financial Services Ltd, the business that is today FD Wealth, with the aim of providing clients with the same high-quality financial advice for which the accountancy practice was known.

From the outset, FD Wealth was guided by the same principles: independent, professional advice delivered to the highest standards.

In 2023, the accountancy practice of French Duncan LLP was sold to AAB, an Aberdeen-based accountancy consolidator.

However, the partners chose not to sell FD Wealth, opting instead to continue a business with roots stretching back more than 120 years to Messrs French and Cowan.

Today, FD Wealth continues to value and respect its clients, providing services that honour the firm’s longstanding legacy of professionalism and care.

Who would have thought that nearly 125 years after its foundation, the firm started by Messrs French and Cowan would still be owned by Chartered Accountants and would still be providing independent, expert advice to the same high standards that became its hallmark?

FD Wealth continues to uphold this tradition, putting clients first and delivering financial guidance that its forebears would be proud of.
